I am writing this letter to share my appreciation of Merilee McCaffery. We started working with Merilee back in February 2010. At that time my husband and I were looking at property in North Vancouver to make a move from Richmond. After we had begun looking, we became unsure about where we wanted to be. Our desire to see many neighbourhoods was met by Merilee with enthusiasm. Merilee is a pleasure to work with and has gone above and beyond to make our real estate transition easy. It has been an exciting time which leave me with fond memories. Merilee possesses a level of professionalism, expanse of knowledge and natural ability that has made us feel comfortable and confident at every turn. Merilee has been more than a realtor. She has been a friend to us, to my children and family dog. Merilee and I have exchanged many phone calls and emails that were always friendly, prompt and answered all inquiries, usually with more useful information than was expected. We are happily in our wonderful new home and would not be here without her. I do not envision us moving any time soon, but hope Merilee will be easy to find when that time comes. "Merilee is an angel dressed in realtors’ clothing. Calling her when I first thought that buying my own place might (possibly, maybe, perhaps..?) be an option was the best decision I could have made. When I made that call, all I knew about real estate was that it was stressful and expensive, especially as a single person taking on a mortgage. At our first meeting she calmed my fears and gave me options and ideas to mull over that I hadn’t thought of and really helped me get over the “I-don’t-know-if-I-can-do-this!” hump. She assured me that if I wanted to, I could, and she was right! She held my hand through the whole process and I know that she always had my best interests at heart. She patiently answered all of my (sometimes frantic) questions (always promptly: evenings, weekends, and even during her training rides for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!) She wouldn’t let me look at units in “bad” buildings and she never held back when we saw a unit that she didn’t think would work for me. Her honesty and candidness were invaluable in helping me make this tremendously important decision. She knows what it feels like to be a first time buyer and used her personal experience as well as her considerable real estate expertise to guide me in the right direction. Merilee is a realtor but not your average realtor. She deeply cares about her clients and goes far beyond the regular services of a standard realtor.
Merilee was incredibly patient as our elderly mother went through the very difficult step of moving from the family home to a beautiful garden apartment. Her compassion was heart-warming but most of all her professionalism was outstanding.
She tried to find a new listing when the apartment that Mom wanted was sold. She created an info sheet and went door to door in the building trying to find a new listing for MOM.
We went to multiple apartment complexes and Merilee showed us the good, the bad, and the ugly with each one. Mom felt respected and most of all HEARD.
Finally the right garden apartment came along and it was unfortunately a bidding war, Merilee came back early from her vacation to present our offer along with the others. Her negotiation and persistence scored us first position during the bidding war. When it was time to return and view the apartment for a second time her advice was spot on. We were the successful bidder and Mom now lives in her dream home and how many realtors share a tear with you after a successful real estate transaction ?
Without Merilee l am afraid the outcome could have been far different and we will always be grateful to her for her professionalism, empathy, and patience. Give her a try, you won’t be sorry.

As first time buyers, the idea of beginning the hunt for our first home was overwhelming and a little bit intimidating. However, we felt very fortunate to have a dedicated and professional realtor in Merilee. Merilee always made herself available (even while out of town and on vacation!) and went above and beyond in assisting us find our perfect first home!
